Whether you’re after something to level-up your child’s wardrobe, or you need a special gift for a mama-to-be… or mama-with-three! These local children’s boutiques have you covered for something a little bit fancy, ethical and oh so adorable. Get ready to melt over the cuteness and coolness of these local spots.
A veteran of Canberra’s children’s shops, Lellow Kids has a huge range of trendy clothing, accessories and gifts for children aged 0 – 14. They’re known for their high-quality shoe range, with tonnes of options to fit both teeny-tiny feet, or for older children. Owned by a local mama, it’s a sunshine-filled store full of thoughtfully chosen bits and pieces by well-known brands. You will definitely find something here for your little ones, friends, or yourself.
Find them: 63/30 Lonsdale Street, Braddon.
A personal favourite of mine, Wolfie has been around the traps of Manuka since 2013. It’s a whimsical wonderland of children’s fashion and giftware. They’ve always nailed their visual merchandising and branding…so it’s a yes from me. Their ever-growing collection of local and international brands never fail to disappoint, with goodies for newborns to 12 years. Their décor collection is to die for, and if you’re setting up a new nursery, get there now! They also have a great range of gifts for expecting mamas, perfect for a baby shower.
Find them: Manuka Lawns Shop 2/19 Bougainville St Griffith.
Renowned for their stunning children’s formal wear, Bambi and Bow has been dressing little ones in beautiful garments since 1996! Operated by a young local mama who appreciates the importance of traditional events, you will find modern and traditional christening and wedding wear, keepsake boxes, candles, religious gifts, and so much more. There are many brands to choose from that cover everyday wear, bedding, giftware and special occasions too.
Find them: Shop 8, 18 O’Hanlon Pl, Federation Square, Nicholls.
Located within Westfield Belconnen, Fox and Roo is jam-packed full of the trendiest brands. Honestly, you will find everything you need in here. They stock the cutest clothes and accessories ever, to homewares and bedding for the nursery, and activity and play items. It’s locally owned and operated by a husband and wife duo who believe that every precious human and the spaces they grow up in deserve to be splashed with a bit of style!
Find them: Westfield Belconnen, Level 3 Near Target.
Okay listen up all you passionate ethical mama warriors, I’ve found your dream store! B Eco Family is an Australian owned and operated business full of sustainable clothing and products to reduce our carbon (baby) footprint.
Since 2018, they’ve offered handmade products by founder Olga, and have now expanded to stocking over 70 brands, with 80 per cent of those run by Aussie women-led businesses. Go girls!
They’re currently moving from Kambah shops to a bigger Weston Creek shopfront from 1 August to cater for their growing collection, so be sure to check out their new space!
Find them: Shop 55A 7-13 Brierly St, Cooleman Court.
BONUS
A few more of my favourite stores that have a hidden corner of beautiful children’s clothes and gifts:
Tucked away in an arcade on Lonsdale Street, this shop is known for it’s stunning handmade wood pieces, pottery, and locally made gifts. But look closely, and you’ll see their range of amazing kids clothes, wraps, kitchenware and inclusive, thoughtful books.
Find them: 67/30 Lonsdale St, Braddon.
Located beneath Aranda shops is Meet Gather Collect. It’s a cheerful space packed with colourful pieces. I could spend all day in there just quietly… go around the back and you can’t miss the children’s corner with brightly printed clothing, picnic blankets, bags and everything in between.
Find them: 68 Bandjalong Cres, Aranda Shops.
Stocking beautiful homewares, jewellery and clothing, you’ll also find the sweetest collection of babywear and gifts in beautiful linens, cotton and bamboo.
Find them: 1/13 Edgar St, Ainslie Shops.
