Juggling Motherhood, Business, and Self-Overcoming the Everyday Pull

Hi, I’m Georgia, first-time mum, Canberra local, and founder of Creativo, a marketing and event decor and signage business. If you’re reading this as a mum or business owner, you know the immense pull we feel each day. It’s that deep desire to be the very best mum for our little ones and a loving, attentive partner, while also wanting, needing, to contribute to the family’s financial security.

This is a reality that so many of us struggle with, often silently. There’s a constant background hum of guilt and doubt: Am I present enough with my child? Am I still supporting my household, my passions, my own identity? For women, this emotional load can linger quietly, growing heavier as we try to do it all, sometimes losing sight of the hobbies and joys that once sparked our spirit.

When I went on maternity leave, like many new mums, I felt an identity shift and even a sense of loss. That was the catalyst for Creativo, a business I started from my kitchen table, seeking a slice of joy and purpose. I can’t overstate how much having a creative hobby-turned-business has helped me make sense of it all. Creating something for myself, on my own terms, refilled my cup in a way parenting and partnership alone simply couldn’t.

For every mum and business owner in Canberra feeling that push and pull: carve out time for you. Find something, anything, that reignites your soul or simply gives you space to breathe and be more than just “mum.” For me, Creativo became that time and space. For you, it might be painting, pilates, or pottering in the garden, but I promise, rediscovering yourself outside of your roles can bring back energy, patience, and pride in who you are.

You’re not alone in this journey. And you absolutely deserve time to be you.
