Alex is a dual registered nurse/midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Midwife Alex has a unique skill set with a postgraduate in Maternal Critical Care and is a Biomechanics for Birth Advanced Practitioner. This enables her to understand the complexities that sometimes occur in pregnancy, birth and into the postpartum period, while being able to provide evidence based education and support.

Midwife Alex offers a rang of services and appointments including home visits, clinic appointments and telehealth sessions for those who cannot make it in person.

Midwife Alex offers Lactation Consults for:

• Pain in your breast or nipples from latching issues

• Engorgement

• Mastitis

• Thrush

• Plugged ducts

• Concerns about your supply being too low or an oversupply

• Weaning

• Returning to work

• Learning how to express milk, fit and use a pump

• Medical history

  • breast surgery, fertility issues, hormonal disorders or previous breastfeeding issues that need an assessment and plan put in place

• Tandem feeding

• Lactating after infant loss

• Concerns around their weight gain or growth

• Assistance stopping top ups, or utilising other tools such as nipple shields, supplemental nursing system or cup feeding

• Supporting your baby to latch onto the breast

• Assess for sucking issues, structural concerns or tongue tie

• Concerns about reflux, allergies/sensitivities and colic

• Transitioning home from NICU or SCN
