Jessica Hardie

Tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Jess, I am a 28 year old Mum to two beautiful girls Ayda (5) and Pia (3), and have an amazing partner Brock.

Born and raised in Canberra and am one of four girls!

Brock is from a country town in the Riverina and is a proud Wiradjuri man.

What were you doing before babies/children?

Before kids Brock and I would take any opportunity to head away to the coast and socialise with friends over the weekends, We were both working full time, in high demanding jobs, so a break from reality was always nice.

How did you come to be a mum?

Well, Brock and I had only been together for about six months when I found out I was pregnant, so it was a surprise. But the most perfect little gift anyone could dream of!

What has your feeding journey been like?

Both my girls were bottle fed. My feeding journey was actually fantastic, it was lovely to be able to have other people feed my girls, so I could have a break.

What has sleep been like in your house?

Sleep hasn’t been too bad, I mean with Ayda who is now five, nothing can really prepare you for a newborn, so sleep at the start was all over the place. For now, my kids love sleep and sleeping in.

The hardest bits…

I was diagnosed with Post Natal Depression and Anxiety with Pia (3). That was probably my hardest part about being a mama. I am still so grateful for my family and partner, they were so supportive over that time. It took about three to four months of weight loss, not eating, not leaving my bed to finally receive a proper diagnosis.

The best bits…

Everything is the best about having kids! I thank my lucky stars every day that I met Brock and was able to have two beautiful healthy girls.

How do you make time for yourself?

My family will have the girls at a click of my fingers, I have had no issues making time for myself. Sometimes I think its realising I need time to myself, not just for myself.

What’s next for you and your family?

What’s next, we are just going to keep on loving each other. We are very excited for the newest member to our little girl clan in October this year, the girls are over the moon to have a cousin joining them in their adventures.
